OMED E-Newsletter Issue 3, 2009: Endoscopy Directors‘ Workshop (EDW) Marrakesh / Damascus
The OMED Endoscopy Directors’ Workshops target the leaders and those responsible for organizing endoscopic services on the ground and deeply involves local faculty in the workshops. This emphasis contributes a bigger impact on practice. We hope to stimulate safe and innovative endoscopy and to provide participants with the knowledge required to organise their endoscopy service, to develop their own protocols, quality assurance and training. An important aim is to stimulate the concept of teamwork in the endoscopy unit while at the same time emphasising the importance of leadership.
OMED experienced a busy month of April, offering workshops in Marrakesh / Morocco and Damascus / Syria. OMED will continue offering workshops around the world and welcomes all to share this opportunity of gaining knowledge.
The workshop in Marrakesh was organized together with Pan Arab Association of Gastroenterology as part of the Pan Arab Congress on Gastroenterology 2009. Approximately 50 doctors participated which encouraged lively interaction between the faculty and the participants. We would like to thank major sponsor, Boston Scientific, whose support helped make the workshop a resounding success.
Damascus, too, adds to our enthusiasm on offering this type of workshop. In cooperation with the Syrian Society of Gastroenterology this was held during the 23rd Congress of the Syrian Society of Gastroenterology.
