ESGE Postgraduate Course - UEGW Berlin, Germany, 2006
The 14 th United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW) will take place in Berlin, Germany from October 21 - 25, 2006, and the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) is proud to be one of the seven European sister societies to welcome participants to the meeting. The ESGE hosts several events at the UEGW, beginning on the Saturday with the ESGE Postgraduate Course. This is one of the mainstays of the meeting and appeals to practising physicians, researchers and nurses alike. The satellite transmissions are moderated by a team of experts who discuss the techniques presented and encourage interactive participation of the audience. The live demonstrations alternate with review talks on core topics of the GI endoscopy practice of today and tomorrow. Participants of the Postgraduate Course are also eligible for participation in the complimentary Hands-On Training Sessions with Biologic Models which take place the following day at the ESGE Learning Area. With access to top quality endoscopic equipment and accessories participants will have the opportunity to perform state-of-the-art techniques under expert guidance. The ESGE has applied for CME credits for this activity.
The ESGE Learning Area, open to all delegates of the UEGW, presents four further activities: the ESGE Simulator Central, ESGE Theatre, ESGE DVD Central, and the ESGE Ultrasound Centre. At the ESGE Simulator Central practical training is possible with lifelike manikin simulators which enable guests to perform realistic endoscopy with standard endoscopes. Here also the right habits of video capsule reading can be practised at several working stations. At the DVD Central visitors may view teaching material from the ESGE library. The ESGE Lecture Theatre features five lectures daily in which experts talk to a small audience and open an interactive forum for discussion. This is a unique opportunity for top-notch scientific discourse on current issues.
Another excellent platform for brief information on very current issues of Endoscopy is the ESGE Video Case Marathon. During this session short videos showing examples of new, unexpected, or exceptional endoscopic practice will be presented and briefly discussed.
